Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our goal is to provide a service that (1) saves you time, (2) increases the amount of materials being diverted from landfills, (3) reduces emissions and resource consumption, and (4) reduces disputes between loved ones or roommates.

  • The service will initially (starting in April 2026) be limited to addresses within Harrisonburg City limits and only addresses that have individual trash pick up. If you live in an apartment and are provided a dumpster service, we can’t provide service … yet.

  • No. We’re offering our service to make recycling easier and not get in the way.

  • Materials Yield collects will be sorted and delivered to the Harrisonburg Recycling Center. From there the City sells collected materials to material buyers in the region.

  • Yield is a for-profit entity, owned and operated by Unfinished, LLC. We believe material collection, sorting, and redistribution should be part of a circular manufacturing supply chain and not a government based solution. Yield is focused on building new circular economy systems built on community and planet first principals.
